Glossary

A

Attic

Between the ceiling of the uppermost floor and the roof, surrounded by walls from all directions–square.

Bachelor flat

A bachelor flat contains one room which is not bigger than 40m2 that has a cooking area, toilette and shower.

Basement

Basement is a flat below the height of the ground.

C

Concrete formwork flat

Concrete form work means that concrete is poured into a floor–height frame and when it dries, the ceiling is put over it, then comes the frame again and so on.

Direct tenant

A direct tenant is a tenant (individual or company) who lets part of the property to the lodger.

Duplex

Equipped

A flat is equipped if it has at least 12 m2.
It has a living area, cooking area, bathroom, toilette, public utilities, hot water and autonomous heating.

Extra equipped

A flat is extra equipped if it has at least 12 m2 It has a living area, cooking area, 2 bathrooms, 2 toilettes, public utilities (electricity, water, drainage system), hot water supply and central heating system.

F

Fully equipped

A flat is fully equipped if it has at least 12 m2.
It has a living area, cooking area, bathroom, toilette, public utilities, hot water and central heating.

G

Gas (hera)

Hera is the rose burner of big, built–in till stoves. It is a special gas burning system which is put instead of the doors of the traditional till stoves and heat it by gas.

Lodger

A lodger is an individual or company who rents part of the property from the owner. It is called the third party.

N

Not equipped

A not equipped flat is a flat that does not fulfill the requirements of a semi–equipped flat, but has at least, a living area, cooking area on an area of 12 m2. It has a toilette outside the house, autonomous heating and water supply is guaranteed.

P

Penthouse

A penthouse is the top floor of a block of flats but not the attic. It is a luxury apartment which has at least a view from two sides ,has a balcony in front of every room and the size of the balcony is nearly the size of the whole flat.

Semi floor

A semi –floor is a floor above the regular floor in a flat built as a gallery. It was used as a living area for butlers, maids or for storing goods.

Semi–equipped

A semi–equipped flat is a flat that does not fulfill the requirements of an equipped flat, but has at least a living area, cooking area, bathroom or toilette on an area of 12 m2. It also has electric and water supply and autonomous heating system.

T

Temporary accommodation

A temporary accommodation is an accommodation of at least one room of 6 m2.Its outer walls are at least 12 cm wide brick walls ( or of other similar material), has window(s) or doors partially of glass and can be heated. Toilette and water supply are guaranteed

Tenant

A tenant is an individual or company who rents the property directly from the owner.

Terraced house

Terraced houses are built directly next to each other. They usually have a small garden in front of them and a bigger backyard. They have one or two floors or they have a built–in attic.
